This field focuses on the study and research of major social, political, cultural and economic events of the past. Development of an understanding of how past events have shaped the contemporary world is fostered. Changes over time are explored. The acquired skills of research, analysis and writing prepare students for careers in many fields from business to law. Preparation for teaching is supported through a secondary education concentration. Other options are found in politics, government, international affairs and social services.
